JOGJA TRIP

JAVA TRIP

End Year 2016 Holiday, me and my family went to Jogjakarta. It takes about 12 hours travel by car from Jakarta. We stayed overnight at Ibis Adi Sucipto Hotel, that located at the central of the city. On the first day, we went to Baru Beach. The beach looks clean and the waves so big and often. The air also fresh and there are a lot of pine trees in there. Agi and Yoshi played with the waves. So excited and fun.

From Baru Beach, we visited Prambanan Temple, the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia. The ticket price is 30.000 rupiah. Prambanan temple dedicated to the Trimurti, the expression of God as the Creator (Brahma), the Preserver (Vishnu) and the Destroyer (Shiva). The temple compound is located approximately 17 kilometres northeast of the city of Yogyakarta on the boundary between Central Java and Yogyakarta Province.

On the second day, we went to Kraton of Yogyakarta. The palace is the main seat Sultan of Yogyakarta and his family. It serves as a cultural center for the Javanese people and contains a museum that displays the sultanate's artifacts. Physically, the palace has seven complex, that is Siti Hinggil Ler (Balairung Utara), Kamandhungan Ler (Kamandhungan Utara), Sri Manganti, Kedhaton, Kamagangan, Kamandhungan Kidul (Kamandhungan Selatan), and Siti Hinggil Kidul (Balairung Selatan). Besides that, the palace has a lot of cultural heritage, traditional ceremonies and a lot of ancient objects. From Kraton, we went to Beringharjo market, most favourite market for Jogja people. The market is clean and there are a lot of things that we can buy here.

At the afternoon, we visited the Taman Sari, a site of a former royal garden of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta. It is located about 2 km south within the grounds of the Kraton Yogyakarta. Built in mid 18th century, the Taman Sari had multiple functions, such as a resting area, a workshop, a meditation area, a defense area, and a hiding place. Taman Sari consisted of four distinct areas: a large artificial lake with islands and pavilions located in the west, a bathing complex in the centre, a complex of pavilions and pools in the south, and a smaller lake in the east. Today only the central bathing complex is well preserved, while the other areas have been largely occupied by the Kampung Taman settlement.

On the third day, we visited Borobudur temple, the world's largest Buddhist temple and also one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world. The ticket price is 30.000 rupiah too. The temple consists of nine stacked platforms, six square and three circular, topped by a central dome. The temple is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. The central dome is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues, each seated inside a perforated stupa. The visitor was very crowded, from Indonesia and also from the other countries. We proud to have change visit a lot of place in Jogjakarta this year. We have a lot of fun in this trip. We hope, we can visit more places in Indonesia in the future.
